Prescribed Fire Training
Basic prescribed fire training, as well as Florida certification for experienced burners, is available through Hillsborough Community College's Certified Burner Program. These courses are designed to train individuals in public and private agencies and organizations that are charged with the responsibility of performing prescribed fires.
The current schedule for prescribed fire training in Florida is listed below, but can change so please check it periodically. The certification can not be "grand fathered", the Florida Legislature made it clear in the prescribed fire act of 1990 that the only way to become certified in Florida is through the Certified Burner Program or the Inter-Agency Prescribed Fire Course - also taught in Florida.
