Winter 2011 Winner

PHOTO Title: Green Lynx Spider
Photographer: Barbara Bowen
Location: Withlacoochee State Forest

Barbara Bowen has a keen respect for nature. She spends a tremendous amount of time outdoors not just enjoying it, but giving back to it.

“On October 1st, I set out to hike the 13 mile Citrus B loop of the Florida trail in the Withlacoochee State Forest.” Barbara told us. “The wildflowers were at peak here in the Sandhills and made for some interesting photographs. I stopped to photograph a swallowtailed butterfly on a nearby flower, when I noticed this colorful lynx spider sitting quietly on a wild buckwheat flower hoping I would not notice him. He was quite cooperative as he let me take several photos before moving off the flower.” Barbara used a Canon EOS 50D with a18-200 mm lens to capture this particular photograph.

Congratulations Barbara!
